Job Description

 

Sodexo is seeking a Director, Media Relations to lead our Corporate Communications Team! Reporting to the SVP, Brand & Communications, you will oversee Sodexo’s North American media relations and public relations activities. In North America, our team of over 100,000 frontline workers and site managers serve millions of consumers daily in away-from-home settings including corporate offices, hospitals, schools, universities, senior living communities, government facilities and more.

 

This is a Remote Role and can be based in any state

(with a preference for Eastern time zone)

 

The successful candidate will:

 

  • Develop and implement Sodexo’s regional/national media relations, public relations and crisis communications strategies
  • Provide strategic guidance and direct engagement with national, regional and local media outlets across the full range of mainstream and digital media
  • Manage a team of media and crisis communications professionals within Sodexo and external to Sodexo
  • Serve as primary point of contact with internal and external stakeholders for media relations policies, issues and opportunities
  • Oversee agency budgets
  • Set KPIs and PR goals to align with company and segment priorities/initiatives

Is this opportunity right for you? We are looking for candidates who have:

 

  • 5+ years’ experience working directly with business media and acting as a corporate national spokesperson, with extensive experience with national business media
  • 5+ years’ experience developing and overseeing external crisis communication strategies
  • Proven ability to be an influential communications consultant within a matrix organization
  • Experience managing outside PR firms
  • Ability to mentor and lead a growing team
  • Top-notch verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism or relevant field preferred

 

Compensation: Base $140-170K (based on geography) + Annual Incentive Plan

 

Position Summary

Leads the development and implementation of Sodexo’s media relations strategy. Manages a network of media relations professionals in building  relationships with key media channels and driving increase in media coverage and brand awareness among a range of audiences through effective and targeted media engagement and distribution approaches. Strategically selects the most beneficial channel mix depending on audience and desired outcomes. Crafts strategic, high-level company positioning, linked to desired reputation and branding attributes – to include specific aspects of business operations, corporate social responsibility and community/stakeholder impact. Collaborates with the digital team to ensure unified engagement approaches across all channels.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement – Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Basic Management Experience – 5 years

Basic Functional Experience – 5 years of experience in Public Relations, media relations, or communications
