Job Description

The Director of Social Media/SEM is responsible for overseeing agency SEM and Social Media teams to ensure successful implementation and ongoing performance for digital campaigns. This person will also provide leadership for SEM Digital Account Architects (DAAs) and Social Media Specialists, establish team goals, and ensure the alignment of products with the business objectives of a client base.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support the Account Management team with digital strategy, budget recommendations, and cross-training
  • Act as internal SME for Paid Search, Display, Video and Social Media marketing campaigns and enhancements
  • Establish reporting and performance metrics for the agency and OEM/Tier 2 business units
  • Maintain quality standards for all campaign deliverables; stay current with platform changes, algorithm updates and automotive industry requirements
  • Foster clear communication between the digital ops team and account services
  • Provide additional expertise (directly or indirectly) during sales presentations, new account pitches, and highly analytical reporting conversations
  • Delegate and manage SEM and Social Media team bandwidth
  • Work with digital team management to plan and execute new employee onboarding and training schedules
  • Ensure the ongoing growth and development of direct reports through education, partner certifications, and value-add experiences
  • Evaluate team performance and provide regular feedback for improvement

Position Requirements:

  • 5+ years with paid search, display advertising, video, and paid social campaigns
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent working experience
  • Proven experience as Manager/Director for digital advertising teams
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Expertise with generating, interpreting, and explaining digital reports for paid digital channels
  • Ability to analyze inefficiencies and refine processes
