Role Overview
Dell Client Software’s Analytics & Cloud Solutions team is looking for a Data Engineer with proven track record of delivering enterprise level cloud services, data management and analytics solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for working closely with other technologists, architects, experience design engineers, product marketing and software engineers to define the architecture, explore technology alternatives and implement those solution with focus on efficiency and reliability.
Role Responsibilities
- Being the technical expert and resource for the overall cloud solutions, data management and/or analytics
- Builds solutions within the infrastructure provided for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using industry leading ‘big data’ technologies
- Involved in the design of data engineering process standards and testing of new data engineering technologies, providing thought leadership to operational plan development for global data solutions
- Leads continuous improvement programs to identify, design, and implement optimal process improvements on any one of the following five data stages: ingestion, storing, packaging, modelling and consumption

Requirements
- Requires 8+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6+ years with a Master’s degree; or 3+ years with a PhD; or equivalent experience
- Hands-on experience with “big data” platforms and tools including data ingestion (batch & real time) and transformation (Hadoop, Hive, Map Reduce, Kafka, Spark, Elasticsearch)
- Deep understanding of database and analytical technology platforms like MPP (Teradata, SQL DW), SQL Server and NoSQL databases (Cosmos DB, HBase, Cassandra)
- Hands on experience with OLAP technologies like Microsoft analysis services, Atscale (ROLAP and MOLAP)
- Deep understanding of cloud computing infrastructure and platforms specifically Azure (Azure stack – Azure event hubs, Azure streaming analytics, Azure Data Lake Store, Azure Data Warehouse, Azure Databricks, Azure Functions, Azure Automation, Azure Data Factory, Powershell, Virtualization technologies like Kubernates)
Preferences
- Understanding the git source control system like GitHub, Stash etc.
- Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Deployment tools
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and product development lifecycle
