This position will allow the selected candidate to gain experience of the drug discovery process in a scientifically innovative environment. The role will involve cell culture of recombinant cellular systems, primary DRG neurons from various species and RNA-seq of single cell preparations of neurons following treatment. The opportunity to learn electrophysiological methods <x{(}>(</x{(}>patch-clamp, automated patch-clamp platforms and multi-electrode arrays) may also be available. This position will run for a minimum of 6 months with the option to extend up to 12 months if the student’s schedule permits.
Basic Qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree in pharmacology, neuroscience, cell biology, molecular biology or a related biomedical discipline.
- Must be eligible to work in the US at the time of, and for the duration of their employment. Candidates will be required to furnish evidence of US work authorization. STEM OPT extensions are not supported.
- Able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the 4-12-month co-op.
- Must have an active student status and/or be within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible.
- Must have a GPA of 2.5 or greater.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of pharmacology, biology, neuroscience. Ideally, have studied ion channels and electrophysiology during an undergraduate course.
- Basic understanding of cell culturing approaches, primary neuron isolation methods. Ideally, with an understanding of functional assays to measure ion channel activity.

- Successfully pass a drug screen and background check prior to assignment target start date.
- Provide your own funding for relocation and commuting if applicable.
