UM Real Estate and Facilities, R&D <x{(}>(</x{(}>REF R&D). This team is responsible for site operations, site service delivery and contract management supporting 1,000 customers at the US Pharmaceutical R&D Hub at UM. Services managed include building infrastructure, Lab equipment and production equipment maintenance and repair, food services, meeting services, lab services and distribution and logistics. As an organization, our objective is to deliver a suitable working environment and underpinning services to support development of tomorrows life savings medicines.
The REF R&D Site Intern will support the REF R&D team at the Upper Merion Site. The position will assist staff on various projects which may include:
- Inspect and update documentation for the following utility and qualified systems: Process piping plans, P&ID control diagrams, Purified water system skid and distribution systems, Emissions control equipment
- Collect asset information in support of CAPA.
- Support RCA activities for deviation and near miss investigations.
- Assist in process safety reviews and action closure
- Assist in completing asset criticality assessments.
- Support Storage tank registrations
- Perform review of contingent worker badge and computer account requirements
- Support GEMBA action completion tracking
- Support RCA activities for zero preventable disruption process
Basic Qualifications:
- Must be pursuing a B.S. degree in an engineering discipline including mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering
- Ability to walk down distribution systems to update drawings is required
- Must be eligible to work in the US at the time of, and for the duration of their employment. Candidates will be required to furnish evidence of US work authorization.
- Able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the 12-week internship cycle (May-July/August)
- Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a degree program
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic CAD capability is preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office

- Successfully pass a drug screen and background check prior to assignment target start date.
