PURPOSE
This position is responsible for the accounting for the corporate site as well as a number of corporate holding companies and special entities. This position also assists in the Global Consolidation process which includes corporate-wide reconciliations and analysis, and also provides support in the preparation of other external financial information.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform the accounting for the corporate site and a number of other corporate entities. Includes the reconciliation and analysis of the activity in all intercompany accounts, as well as assisting with the presentation of the corporate financial results to management.
- As part of the corporate consolidation, perform company-wide consolidated reconciliations and consolidated analyses of activity in the equity, intangibles, and intercompany accounts. Also perform the accounting for numerous company-wide benefit plans such as pensions, insurance, etc. Prepare consolidating entries as part of the worldwide consolidation. Interact with Site Controllers of other PerkinElmer locations to ensure the proper accounting for transactions involving multiple sites.
- Work with the Corporate Accounting Manager and other Corporate Accounting staff to develop strong internal controls, maintain systems, and continuously improve processes.
- Interact with and provide assistance to our corporate tax group in understanding the corporate results so they can prepare tax provisions and returns.
- Interact with and support the external reporting group by preparing and analyzing financial information to help them prepare our external filings.
- Perform other related duties of similar complexity as directed. This position is a part of PerkinElmer’s corporate accounting group at the company’s corporate headquarters, so additional duties could include, but are not limited to, consolidations of other businesses within the PerkinElmer, Inc. portfolio, and special projects
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with at least 4 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Minimum of 5 years experience with SAP
- Must have familiarity with US GAAP, foreign currency, and Oracle, or equivalent GL software
PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS
- Experience with Hyperion or equivalent consolidation and reporting software also a plus.
- Effectively communicates with and engages all levels of the organization verbally and in writing; translates technical decisions/strategies into business terms and implications; produces clear, understandable documentation geared for all audiences.
- Allocates time and resources efficiently, focusing on ever-shifting priorities; continually seeks way to improve individual/team efficiency. Demonstrates ability to be effective within a matrix environment.
- Self-starter with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and take ownership of projects, performing job requirements with minimal oversight and attention to detail.
- Understands the PerkinElmer business and the impact of the Accounting & Finance organization on the operation.
- Exhibits an assertive personality with a strong bias for action with a results-orientation; tackles tough problems with firm deadlines.
